EXPRESS: Do Consumers Order More Calories in a Meal with a Diet or Regular Soft Drink? An Empirical Investigation Using Large-Scale Field Data

چکیده

Diet carbonated soft drinks were introduced to help consumers lower caloric intake. However, critics suggest that these can provide an excuse consume more calories, a so-called “Big Mac and Coke” mentality is consistent with behavioral theories such as moral licensing (e.g., combining healthy eating choice indulgent, less one). Using individual-level food drink consumer panel data from major fast-food restaurant chain, we empirically examine meals regular (CSD) versus diet CSD. Results after controlling for size demographics show generally do not order higher total calories meal CSD; rather, find significant reductions in calorie count, suggesting within single meal, CSDs unwilling stop drinking reduce calories. So, despite popular beliefs the contrary, policy makers consider diet-CSD availability “calorie-reduction” strategy consumption meal.

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware

The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

An investigation of the field-aligned currents associated with a large-scale ULF wave using data from CUTLASS and FAST

On 14 December 1999, a large-scale ULF wave event was observed by the Hankasalmi radar of the SuperDARN chain. Simultaneously, the FAST satellite passed through the Hankasalmi field-of-view, measuring the magnetic field oscillations of the wave at around 2000 km altitude, along with the precipitating ion and electron populations associated with these fields. A simple field line resonance model ...
